Mobile Instruments Made Easy: Creating Musical Mobile Apps with LIBPD and iOS, No Experience Necessary
The quirks of programming native iOS applications can be daunting, especially to someone not already familiar with other text based programming languages. Fortunately, recent developments in Apple’s Xcode IDE, along with the open-source Pure Data wrapper, LIBPD, enable the process of creating an iOS native, standalone, musical mobile app to be quite accessible. متن کاملNo appointment necessary? Ethical challenges in treating friends and family.
Physicians may be asked or choose to provide medical care to family members or to give informal or undocumented care to friends, neighbors, or colleagues who are not their patients. Treatment can range from refilling a prescription, discussing a recent injury, or ordering a test to performing major surgeries. متن کاملMonads as Extension Systems —no Iteration Is Necessary
We introduce a description of the algebras for a monad in terms of extension systems, similar to the one for monads given in [Manes, 1976]. We rewrite distributive laws for monads and wreaths in terms of this description, avoiding the iteration of the functors involved. We give a profunctorial explanation of why Manes’ description of monads in terms of extension systems works.
متن کاملPlacement of Loading Stations for Electric Vehicles: No Detours Necessary!
Compared to conventional cars, electric vehicles still suffer from a considerably shorter cruising range. Combined with the sparsity of battery loading stations, the complete transition to E-mobility still seems a long way to go. In this paper, we consider the problem of placing as few loading stations as possible such that on any shortest path there are enough to guarantee sufficient energy su...
متن کاملVisual experience is necessary for the development of multisensory integration.
Multisensory neurons and their ability to integrate multisensory cues develop gradually in the midbrain [i.e., superior colliculus (SC)]. To examine the possibility that early sensory experiences might play a critical role in these maturational processes, animals were raised in the absence of visual cues. As adults, the SC of these animals were found to contain many multisensory neurons, the la...
